Kit was one of two Maine Coon kittens left at a pet store that was going out of business. The owner had her and her sister left to sell. My parents bought Kit for $2.49. They have always wondered what happened to the sister and still regret to this day that they didn't buy both of them. 



The first time I saw her, she was all curled up in a little ball on my grandmother's couch. I was surprised to find out that she was going home with us. Originally, I wanted to call her "Penny" but somehow the name "Kit" stuck with her. 



She was an indoor cat and had a pleasant disposition. Everyone who saw her was in awe of her size and how pretty she was.



We lost Kit to kidney failure on June 29th, 1993. The hardest day of my life was having to hand her over to the vet to have her put to sleep. But she was so sick and we knew she was ready to go. Now she sits in a little pink urn on my mother's closet shelf. 



Still, after all these years, I can't speak about her without choking up.



Until we get to see her again, she will always be missed.
