Your favorite chair is vacant
No eager purrs to greet me
No softly padded paws to run
ecstatically to meet me
No coaxing rubs,no plaintive cry
Will say it time 4 feeding
I've put away your bowl
And all the things you won't be needing
But I will miss you little friend
For I could never measure
the happiness you brought me
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow

God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you, And whispered, "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you drift. We watched you fall away.
We couldn't bear to lose you. We couldn't ask you to stay.

A golden heart stopped beating. Shining eyes at rest.
