Missy was 15 when she passed and I loved her as much the day she died as I did the day I got her. She was VERY vocal and had no problems telling you how she felt. Missy loved to eat right up until her last night at home with me. She got morbidly obese in her younger years. Although she was soooo cute this way I knew it was unhealthy, so I put her on a diet. She was not happy. She did very good losing weight and still looked just as cute. However, nearly 3 years ago she developed diabetes. A lot of pet owners would give up right then and there and have their pet put to sleep because of the added stress and responsibility as well as the cost of haveing a diabetic cat. I would not do that. Instead, I made sure she got her 2 shots a day, ate her diabetic food, stayed thin and was happy. I brought her to the vet for checkups whenever it was recommended (even though she yelled at me the whole ride in). Missy developed serious constipation problems in her final months and I was always on top of it. I brought her to the vet to get help with it and made sure she was comfortable.
One thing about Missy that was the best was whenever I'd come home she'd be waiting at the top of the steps for me. When she saw it was Mama she'd start talking and walk to me. I'd sit at the top of the steps for a long time and we'd visit, that is one thing I will miss forever. We had a special bond NO ONE and I do me an no one was allowed to pick Missy up and carry her escept me. She would rub against my chin and ears while I petted her all the while purring like a little motorboat was in her tummy.
Unfortunately, things rew difficult for Missy on this New Year and she cols no longer hang on for herself or for me. I decided to let her go after a serioud blockage in her urinary tract had caused a blood clot reaction and took my little baby girl away. Although I chose not to be in the room as the euthanasia took place, I did say goodbye and got to hold her warm peaceful little body after she had gone to be with her sisters, Cindy and Cutie in heaven. She looked young, peaceful and happy. I will miss and love her always.

Personal Notes

I am so sorry to read of the loss of your cat. I can sympathise with how you feel, my own little dog Brandy had to be given eternal sleep november 2004. It is one of the hardest things to do for our beloved pets, but is harder to see them endure an illness that we know they can't overcome. I wish you well and time will help to ease your pain, they are already waiting for us in a better place.
