Princess Kitty Muff came into my life on October 29. 2004- only 11 days before she passed away. I found her on a Friday as I was driving home from school. We were having a horrible thunder storm and as I made my way down a street I saw this poor little kitty trying to get across the street. She was staggering, and finally collapsed at the end of someones driveway. I didn't even stop to think it through, I pulled over and ran over to her to see what was wrong. She was soaking wet, and when I touched her I could feel every bone in her tiny little body. She looked up at me and her eyes were crying "help me". I gently scooped her up and took her home with me. Within minutes I had her wrapped in a warm blanket, and giving her warm milk. We didn't own a cat so I had to go out and get her a litter box, and food and treats. I thought she was homeless and starving. My hope became bringing her back to health so we could keep her. She was weak, and had neurological issues with her eyes, and her movements were mechanical and uncoordinated, she also had very bad breath, but I thought it was from starvation (she was declawed so she wouldn't of been able to hunt for food). As the days went by she seemed to come around- eating small portions of food, and drinking water- and although she was so weak she dragged herself to her litterbox. We grew to love her so much. We took turns holding her and loving her. We took turns sleeping with her too. At first she had no meow, but then a hoarse meow, and then her little soft meow finally came- and we really thought she was on her way to getting better.
She took a turn for the worse on a Sunday night. She tried to eat, but just couldn't. I had to hold her up in her litterbox. That night she was in pain- just touching her seemed to hurt, and she would cry. She began having accidents in her blanket where she was lying. I decided, and promised her I would take her to the vet and get her fixed in the morning. With high hopes- the next morning, I scooped her up and off into the car we went. When we got to the Vets office- it was only a matter of minutes before my heart was broken- the doctor looked at her, and weighed her (only 4 pounds), and told me she was around 10 years old, and was in end stage renal failure. He said there was nothing he could do for her. She was totally dehydrated, and had developed CHF. He asked me if I wanted to bring her home to die- and he said she would die, and soon, and it would be painful- or, if I wanted him to- he could put her to sleep now. I began to cry and looked into her eyes- she had that look that pets have when it's over- she was suffering, and crying out in pain when we touched her, so the decision was then made to do it. I had a few minutes to hold her and say goodbye. As I cried, she looked into my eyes as if to say goodbye, and meowed a soft little meow. I held her as the vet put her to sleep. I wrapped my little kitty back up and brought her home to bury. I picked a pretty bush to bury her by and I plan to make a garden there in the spring with pretty flowers to remind me of my beautiful little black tiger with orange spots, and big bright green eyes. God meant for me to find her that day so she wouldn't die cold, and alone in the street. She was warm, and fed, and comforted every minute. She stole our hearts, and we will miss her. I hope wherever she is in kitty heaven that every now and then she looks down and thinks of us. Goodbye little girl.. Mommy
