We pulled Pip from a shelter on Family Day. I have never seen a smile like the one he had the moment he realized he was leaving with us and wouldn't have to go back into the cage.

Pip was the gentlest soul I've ever met, and smiled every time he heard the words "good boy". I said it often, because he was a good boy and I loved seeing that smile. Every treat or toy offered got a smile, too. He loved long walks and the dog park, and making new friends - and he was so good at making friends. Every person and dog who met him liked him instantly. He would sing a happy song to every new soul he met, with the song being even more happy and more wonderful if it was a friend he recognized.

Pip left us far too soon, but not before teaching his big sister about playing and making friends, and to share some of his love of adventure. She wasn't scared to go in the car any more with him beside her. He was patient with her when she wasn't friendly to him at first, and won her heart. He was a good teacher, friend, playmate and guide for his little brother. He was so patient and gentle.

We miss you, Pip. We love you and we always will. You are not just a Good Boy, but The Goodest Boy. Please take good care of your sister and show her it's not scary where you are, and we'll see you again someday.
