I was eating dinner out one evening when I saw an adoption poster put up by the Bloomington Humane Society. On the poster there was the cutest dog ever, and he had 4 hour glasses beside his photo, which meant he had been there for a long time. I knew I had to go save this dog.
So I called up my friend, Kate, and we headed to the Humane Society. I searched for the dog I had seen in the photo, but couldn't find him. When I was about to leave, this fluffy red dog with a toy in his mouth (he always had a toy in his mouth) pops his head in through the doggie door. He had been laying in the outside portion of his pen. We cuddled and made friends and I knew I had to adopt him.
But I had to make some arrangements first. At this point in time I wasn't allowed pets in my apartment, so I asked my close friend, Phil, if this adorable dog could live with him and RZA (Phil's dog) until I got a new place. After a couple days of persuading, he agreed and I was headed back to the Humane Society. When I returned, the fluffy red dog had already been adopted. I was a little upset, but also happy that he found a home.
A few days later I went back to the Humane Society with Kate, who had also fallen in love with a dog on our previous visit. And what do you know...he was back. He apparently didn't get along with the family's other dog. Surprising huh? So I knew that it was meant to be and took him home that day, 7/5/02, named him Bentley and he has been my best boy ever since.
As you all know, Bentley wasn't always such a "good boy". He got in his share of trouble over the past 2 years. But he grew a lot and became a great companion.
As of recently, Bentley had been living on my boyfriend, Zane's farm, where he loved his freedom and his new friends Zane and Wilson (Zane's puppy). Bentley loved to carry around his Boodah, follow the tractors, catch animals, roll in filth and cuddle. Bentley was a great cuddler and always lent his ear when I needed someone to listen. I will miss him much and he will never be forgotten.
