Ranger was everyone's best friend. He was there to greet you with a wagging tail every time you turned the key to enter the house. When you were upset, Ranger was right there by your side to cheer you. When you were happy, he was right there jumping up and down with excitement. His favorite thing in the world was to go in the car. He would sit with his head out the window and look all around. He loved going for walks in the park, barking at the mailman, getting petted on the top of his head, and eating all kinds of foods, especially licorice. He hated taking baths, although he took them in stride. As he got older, he began to slow down as arthritis set in in his hips. He was also diagnosed with an abdominal tumor which took its toll on his body. Through all of this, he always maintained his loving personality and never once stopped greeting us at the door. He was loved so very much and is sorely missed. Words cannot express the heartbreak we feel over his loss. "I lost a treasured friend today The little dog who used to lay His gentle head upon my knee And share his silent thoughts with me... He'll come no longer to my call Retrieve no more his favorite ball A voice far greater than my own Has called him to His golden throne. Although my eyes are filled with tears I thank Him for the happy years He let him spend down here with me And for his love and loyalty When it is time for me to go And join him there, this much I know... I shall not fear the transient dark For he will greet me with his bark." (Author Unknown)
