We got Abigail in the summer of 1997. She was my present for graduating elementary school...

When my family and I first decided to get a dog we knew we it had to be a beagle. They are a special breed of dog, though they look like they are sad, or as we always said it "looks like she has no friends" they are happy go lucky dogs, whose number one goal is to be their owners best friend, and Abby was the best at that.

Abby was with us through some very hard times in my families life. In February of 2001, my mom was diagnosed with Leukemia, thought she had her ups and downs and after a sucessful bone marrow transplant she passed away due to the cancer.

Abby knew that something was different in the house, it was almost like she knew that mom had passed away. She was very gentle, and loving when we were all dealing with the dealth of mom. Abby was the one thing in the house you could count on to make you smile, even when it was hard to.

As much as we loved and still love Abby, she got into her fair share of trouble. No matter how many times we told her not to she still felt it necessary to go thru the garbage cans when she was at home alone. When she was a puppy she had the same problem with socks. We just said that it was her weakness, and she couldn't help but be weak around socks and garbage.

This morning, July 6, 2004, Abigail passed away. Her back was broken, no one is quite sure how. She was fine on the weekend when her and dad were playing in the backyard, but then Sunday couldnt walk. My dad was willing to do whatever it took to make Abby better and keep her with us. However we were told that her kidneys and blatter had shut down, for Abby's own good the Vet thought it better to put Abby to sleep rather than wait for her blatter to burst and her be in pain. As it was she was taking steriods to take the pain away.

I will miss Abby more that she will know, but for now her and mom are reunited in heaven, until Dad and I can be there to join them!
