We have two kitty's, sisters, Ivy and Misty. A cat we knew of, who used to visit us, just had a litter and we decided to ask for one of the babies. When we saw them, we decided on the one we wanted, Misty. We finally went to take her to her new home at 7 weeks, but could not leave without taking one of her siblings with us! Neither my fiance nor I had ever had cats before so we were new at it, but they brought us such joy! We happily changed our lifestyle to accommodate them!
They've gone through everything together - their inoculations, neutering etc. We have always seen them as our children, not as our pets.
We moved into a new house a few months ago and kept them inside for a month, gradually letting them out with us and then on their own. They adjusted well. Misty was the one who would come home late at night. I've spent many nights anxiously waiting for her to come home. She recently went missing and after the second day, we started putting posters up. The next day a woman called to let us know she had found our Misty in her garden, already dead. We decided to have her cremated and to plant a tree in her memory, with her ashes. We are devastated at the loss and are extremely worried about how her sister will cope.
Misty and her sister were immensely close, inseparable, and we always felt content leaving home to go out at night, since they were together. We've been wondering whether or not to get a new kitten, but we just don't feel ready yet.
Misty was a little angel, she was a grey and white tabby, with big blue green eyes with a distinct black line around them (like eyeliner) and a pink nose and paws, she woke me up each morning by pawing my face (always with one claw, although she was too cute to be angry at!), she played with the bath water. Since they were babies, they used to sit on the side of the bath and play with the water, a habit which has stuck. Misty used to love climbing under the covers with me and her purring used to put me to sleep, she used to sleep stretched out to double her length, she and her sister used to lovingly embrace each other and sleep with paws entwined! They would lick each other one minute and stalk each other the next. She is so terribly missed, we are not sure how to deal with her loss. We love her so dearly.
