Jasmine, we miss you so much

We adopted you and your buddy, Kobe the Kitten, from the animal shelter in June 2002. You seemed so delicate and sweet so we named you after the delicate Jasmine flower. At first you were very distrustful and did not care for your new adopted Kitten companion, Kobe. He annoyed you so and all you did was hiss at him. We almost changed your name to Rose, since you had your "thorn" moments!

A mere week after you joined our family you were attacked by a neighbor dog. The girls, Shanley and Morgan (then 11 and 13) came to your rescue. After that...you trusted us and became the most wonderful companion to all of us! You even liked the dogs, Champ a loving Lab pup (same age as Jasmine) and Percy, our loving rescue dog, 7.

Jasmine...You had such a uniqueness about you. I won't forget the first Thanksgiving together. I set the table for the big family gathering...and I couldn't figure out what happened to some of my napkin and napkin rings. Until I later realized that you were carrying away and hiding the napkins under my bed! As if they were your babies! Then you would take my earrings and hide them, and finally you stuck to the girls’ beanie babies. And that became our game. We would throw the beanie baby and you would run, take it and then hide it!

You also never left our side. Where ever we would go, inside our out in the yard, you would follow us. Every morning you would jump in bed with Jerry and I and "force us" to pet you by nudging your head into our hands...even when we hid them for fun! And that loud puurrrrr!

You loved my mom's hair...she would come over and you would jump on the back of the couch and rub your head in her hair...she called you "the hairdresser". And you loved men! When ever a male friend of ours would come over, off you would run to greet them... purring and rubbing against them and lying flat out so that you could have your belly rubbed!

I could go on and on... but it is hard when I am crying. You were such a special part of our family. And unfortunately, where we live it is not safe to be out a night because of the coyotes. And you escaped Monday evening and we could find you no where. We looked every few hours until 2 am. We hope that maybe you would stay in the back yard and we would find you when morning came.

Jasmine, how I wish I could her you come running up the stairs, with your pink collar and bell on. And how your buddy, Kobe misses running up and down the hallway with you, playing together and then two of you would groom each other. He doesn't understand where you went and it is so sad seeing him look for you in all your usual sleeping places. He will be ok...we will make sure of it!

You gave us a wonderful two years and we hope you enjoyed your life with us. You will be missed baby, our little Pig who loved to eat... and loved to kick the kitty litter out of the box. just for fun!

So many memories. We hope you are in heaven now with Percy our dog, your friend, who we just lost to Cancer a short 3 weeks ago.

We will love you forever and never forget you,

Rocky (mama), Jerry (daddy), Shanley, Morgan, Kass, Kobe your kitty companion, and Champ the Lab... and all of our friends who agreed that you were such a unique and special cat. Loyal to us more than most humans! Thank you for being a part of our family... you will be missed!
