She was the sweetest little Golden Retriever Mutt a family could have. Yes, she was a little absent minded and some thought she was a little dumb (MOM) but she had a lot to live up to being in the shoes of BEBE her predesesor. Bebe was our gifted dog who passed away about 4 years ago or maybe it has been five now, but no matter this day is officially Amber's day. She was the best stray dog a family could have. She decided to go out the same way as my father, she was diagnosed with cancer about four months ago and she has fought it valiantly the whole time, by still eating like a horse and fighting the arthritis and cancer that has wrecked her Golden body. She was a trooper the whole time just like our Dad and loving husband Chip. Amber would never let you know that she was not feeling well, she would still wag her tail even though she was probably not feeling so hot. I wish I could have been there for her last and final days but my job keeps me in NYC many miles away from NC. I must say my mother has brought her up well, taking her from stranded status to a classy girl who does her business where she is supposed to.
Amber was always my fathers favorite dog, because she would lay on the couch with him in San Antonio and they would both fall asleep on their backs. It was the funniest thing to see, sometimes I think Amber thought she was human. She always did prefer human food to dog food. Guess I would too. In fact in her last days she would not eat dog food, only human food. It was almost like she was saying, "you know what, I do not have many more days left on this earth so I want human food not this dog food" because that is all she would eat.

For a stray to last to the ripe old age of 16 is amazing and it really says a lot about my mothers loving heart. Just like she did a good job of raising me, she also did a great job raising a wonderful pet.

Amber we will always remember you!! Rest In Peace Amber!!
Thanks for bringing so much joy to our Family.
