My Beautiful Angel, I cannot believe I am writing this, I cannot believe you have left us.
You came to join our family on 29th March 2008, it was love at first sight when we saw you, you were a little cloud of white fluff.
We brought you home and introduced you to your new Uncle Teddy, the golden retriever, amd Buddy, your new big brotherand Jack who was your elderly little brother.
Jack was a bit grumpy with you, but then he was like that a lot, but Teddy loved you and as for Buddy, well he adored you, he taught you all his naughty tricks and then sat back and laughed whilst you did them and got into trouble.Do you remember Buddy taught you how, to dig up newly planted flowers and you did and you sat there smiling with mud all round your chops as if to say it wasn't my fault Buddy said I could!.
You bought so much love into our family and we have had so many wonderful times with you, you have seldom had to visit the vet.
About a month ago we noticed that you couldn't always jump on the seats, sometimes you could manage it but sometimes not., I put it down to the fact that you were a little overweight, so I put you on a diet and you lost some weight, but you still were not able to always jump up. Then we noticed you appeared to be hobbling, so we took you to see Uncle Paul, your vet, he checked your hips and knee's and couldn't really find anything wrong, so he gave us Rimadyl tablets to give you, you were to have 2 a day for a week, then I had to only give you one a day.It didn't help so we took you back and he xrayed you, and told us that one of your hip joints was a tiny bit loose, he said that with him being an orthapaedic surgeon that your condition was not at all bad and that we were to rest you and take you out for short periods to exercise your little leggies.
Over the last7-10 days you have not been that good, your walking has worsened and you seemed so very sad, and we could find you laying on the back of the sofa looking out of the window or under Buddy's sofa and a lot of the time you didn't want picking up.
I called Uncle Paul and an appointment was made for you yesterday here in the UK. 27th September.2012. Your big sister dropped you at the vets on her way to work, she said that you were really unhappy and didn't want to stay.
An hour or so later Uncle Paul rang and said that he wanted to give you an MRI scan and asked mummy if that was ok, he said he needed to see exactly what was going on, mummy said you were to have whatever he thought necessary to make you better.
Then we received a call from him a few hours later, a call I still cant understand, he told mummy that he had very bad news and that you had passed away under the anastethic.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing, you are only four years old, and he couldn't give us a reason why you left us,the MRI results showed nothing untoward. He said that with about 20 mnins to go before the scan was due to end, the nurse said that your heart rate was dropping,Uncle Paul went into the room where you were and your heart stopped, he told us they tried everything but could not start it again.
Oh Thomas, why did you leave, I know how much you loved us and you knew how much we loved you, but I knew something wasn't right. We may have been able to find out but that would have meant something called an autopsy and mummmy although she needed to know what went wrong could not bear the thought of that.
So I told your Daddy and Laura already knew as Uncle Paul had called her and she was on her way home, we came to collect you.You looked so peaceful, we took you to a pet crematorium, where we took Jack last year. We laid you in a basket and spoke to you and told you how much we loved and always will love you, we kissed you one last time and covered you with your blanket and left your little toy mousey with you for company.
We drove to a big park and walked and waited for a couple of hours before returning to collect your ashes in a beautiful little casket, which now stands beside Jack and Barney's.
I don't know why you left us sweetheart, but Aunty Pea will contact you soon to try to find out, don't be afraid when she does mummy has asked her to to do this.
We love you so very much Thomas, we are all just so numb with the pain of losing you, I always thought we were going to grow old together, I don't know what to do now, neither does Laura or Daddy and Teddy and especially Buddy are very sad..
Last night outside the back of our home, in the sky, was just one very very bright star, and one much dimmer one hovering behind it, it remained there all night, we know it was you.
Dear,Sweet Thomas how we love and miss you, I don't know how we are going to get on without you.
We will love you forever..please come visit us again
Your Loving Mummy xxxx
