I don't know how I would like Neko to be remembered. His Christmas stocking has a photo frame on it with the words "the boss" underneath...and he lived up to it. He was silly and clownish right from the beginning and fiercely independent. There wasn't a string that the little guy didn't love to chase or chew. His favorite game was "blanket monster" you know the one, where you are trying to make the bed and the cat jumps under the covers and attacks your hands? He was inquisitive, and the CUTEST kitten our family ever had, he grew into the most handsome as well. I adopted him from the animal shelter, as a kitten so I never knew his birthday. We always just counted the day that I adopted him as his "new birthday". He never ever lost that kitten attitude. In fact, the morning before he died, he was attacking the ties on my robe. He was my best friend. He loved to cuddle only me and his favorite place to be was my lap watching TV. My lap feels empty now. He passed away at home surrounded by love and affection. Even as he lay slipping away in my arms, he looked at me with that same love in his little eyes he always had. As if to tell me "I have to go now, but I will love you forever". Thank you Neko for the few (too short) years of unwaivering affection you gave me. I will miss your little face more than you know.
