I miss Fawn. She was a big part of our family. She even had her own stocking at Christmas. We had her since she was a year old. She was always very protective of my siblings and me, but she was not a mean dog. She loved to play with my dad, and she'd chase the geese around in the field behind our house. She loved to cuddle, and always seemed to think she was a lap dog. Whenever it got cold outside, she'd always come back in the house, and be really hyper. It was funny.

What was also funny was when we got our cat. Niki was only a month or so old when we found her. For the first couple months that we had her, she didn't leave my room, mostly because we have a 2 story house, and we were worried about her falling down the stairs, or getting into stuff. We were also worried about how Fawn would react, since she was 10 years old at the time, and the last time we had brought a kitten into the house, she had nipped at it. She did really well, and even let Niki check out her food. Sometime she'd even let Niki touch her and cuddle by her legs, but she didn't like us seeing it. The minute she noticed us paying attention, Fawna would get up, and act like she didn't like it.

It was a bit sad in her last few years. Her eyesight went a bit, and she'd growl and bark when you came in the door. Once she sniffed us, she would calm down. Except for new people she met after her eyesight went. No matter how much they came over, she'd always growl at them. She never nipped at them, or acted aggressively. I think she was just growling because she didn't know them like she knew us. It got really sad when her hips started to go. We had to block off the stairs at the bottom, because she would get stuck half way up, and someone usually had to help her. She didn't like being left alone downstairs, and she would whine unless my mom, or someone was down there with her.

One day in the winter, while we were taking her outside, a guy bumped her with his car. He did try to stop ( and he stayed until the police came, just o we could file a report), and we don't blame him for anything. The guy coming the other way had is brights on, the road was icy, and Fawn always was a bit dippy, and she would walk in the road sometimes. Anyway, she couldn't walk well without whining after that, so we had to have her put down. It was very sad. Our cat was confused or the next few days, and she'd always be waiting by the door, waiting for Fawn to come back.

We got her cremated, and now she sits up in the TV stand in the living room, overlooking her family.
