My precious girl came to us from our local rescue center, but I believe she was actually sent by her sister Pooky who is in Heaven. They never knew each other, but Pooky knew I was finally ready for a new baby to love, and knew that my Katie girl was the one. I had seen her on their adoption page, but was still scared to love again. I sent her picture out to everyone to see, but then she got adopted. I went to the SPCA to donate some money to them, and talked about how happy I was that Katie found a home. They said that the people had brought Katie back because she had some dental issues. They then asked if I wanted to meet her. It was all over then. We were perfect for each other. She came to her home with us that day, and it was like she had been part of our family forever.
She had to go to the vet and get a bunch of teeth removed, so her little tongue would stick out the end of her mouth. It was so cute. She had also been shot with pellets at some point, so we had that removed. We assumed we had lots of years to look forward with her, but it just didn't happen that way. I won't go into the health issues, but it ended up with a very bad diagnosis after suffering lots of pain(some that we probably weren't even aware of). We had to make the decision to let her go on 08-24-11. We were with her when she took her last breath, and she is always in my heart. I didn't know that I would ever be able to love like that again after losing Pooky, but Katie taught to how much I could. I love that little girl with all of my heart and soul. I can't wait to see my babies in Heaven one of these days.
The first night home she slept beside my bed in one of Poo's beds. The second night we went to bed, and I woke up and she was in bed with us. I put her back in her bed, but woke up again with her beside me. After that, she slept with me every night. She's a little bitty chihuahua, and our bed is really high, so I figured if she was that determined, then that's how it was going to be.
She loved to crawl into pillowcases, under blankets, into warm clean towels or socks. I took lots of pictures of her jumping into the chair after I put clean clothes there to be folded.
She also loved to give you paw. I would walk up to her, and she would put her little paw up to me and give me paw. Course, she always had to nip me a little afterwards.
She also love to get down and crawl. We saw her doing this one day, and said "Katie's crawling", and after that you could tell her to crawl and off she would go. She would kind of get down in the front with her butt a little up in the air, and off she went. So precious.
The whole family fell in love with her immediately. Grandma and her Auntie Di especially miss her. We all miss her so much. We just didn't get enough time with her. Her cousin Yoda came to visit her a few times, and she went to see him once, (they live out of state), and they played like crazy.
I would like to add more later, but I hope you will enjoy reading this about my precious little girl.
