Reggie our beloved dachshund brought such much joy into our life and home. I saw Reggie in the pet store window in May 2008. Two days later I returned to the store and tapped on the window. I said to the small black dog, "if you come here I'll bring you home." The miniature dachshund ran to the window and jumped up. My friend and I went inside and we played with him and a little soccer ball. He was tiny, but so energetic. More days and cats entered our home and Reggie befriended them each differently. Some pets he saw as his competition and challenged them. My friend's dachshund Nathan was constantly challenged to wrestling matches. A new male cat named Herb entered our house and Reggie learned quickly not to bother cats when the cat stood up on his back legs and used Reggie's nose as a punching bag. Although they may not have had easy beginnings, they gradually became friends. Reggie loved playing with his toys. If he was alone, he would throw the toy up into the air and go and catch it. He enjoyed to eat meat bones and hang out in the backyard. And Reggie loved his Pops. When Lee would enter the house, Reggie liked to greet him with a loud bark. He'd follow Lee into the kitchen to see if he could get some cold cuts from him. And he loved snuggling with Lee on the couch or on his blanket.
