In loving menory of a sweet little gal named Boni Lass Boni Lass was a very specail gal thsat joined the crew of the Monitor along with a big brother Punkin and her biggest brother a dog named Maxxx. Boni loved life and was always getting herself into places she shouldn't when she decided to jump ship or when the Maxxx nosed her overboard. We would have to call for her and go down the docks listening for her little cries that said help me.. She knew that she owned the boat and that no matter where she would end up thsat we would go and find her and bring her back to saftey. A nice warm towel would be waiting for a little gsl that looked like a drowned rat... She also would go and keep track of the dock hands where ever they might be working. She also loved to play under the docks in the wooden beams. But she new that when mom was around that she would be found and in her bed with dad every night. Boni loved to follow you and wuld end up away from the boat and would figure her way back while her brothers would be waiting for her.. She ruled the guys and was the boss.. The sverage person would have siad there was noway that little sweet quiet tortie was the boss. She had cancer twice in two years about 3 years ago and had to have surgery both times to get it all. But through it all she was a reall trouper. She made it through with flying colors the second time after the docs had got it all. Boni was running the rails in her last days and fell into the very cold water of the bay at Morro Bay. Dad pulled her out the water which was running out very fast just as she headed under some logs raffted togther. he grabbed the scruff of her neck and pulled her to safety. Boni was so very cold and shaking as dad put the warm towel around her and dried her off. Boni caught a cold and was staying in and out of the weather. On her last night she had curled up in one of her favorite places and thsat was under the covers with dad. Boni went to sleep and died from her cold. She was where she loved to be whensshe was not feeling good, the weather was bad or when it was cold.
