Dallas was a "free dog" in the London Free Press. I immediately called the number and drove to pick him up. He was my graduation gift to myself and I could not have picked a better present! He was pretty rough around the edges but underneath was a heart of gold. He was gentle and kind and loving, all traits that blossomed as the years passed. They say 13 is an unlucky number but I disagree. Dallas was 13 and in those 13 years he gave me many things. He introduced me to the wonderful breed of the Labrador Retriever, causing me to purchase Grace, Gabe and Ice. He introduced me to a wonderful friend in Donna Winsor whose wisdom over the years helped me understand Dallas better and allowed me to be a better friend to him. Donna taught him obedience classes and we all came to know when Dallas was in class. He was a noisy participant causing everyone to stand up and take notice of the big solid black lab. However we all came to learn that Dallas was all bark and no bite and he wouldn't harm a fly. He was a wonderful friend to Grace, Gabriel and Ice and will be greatly missed by Gabe and Ice. So while many say 13 is unlucky, I thank God I had 13 wonderful years with my boy and I know he is running free with his friend Grace at the Rainbow Bridge. Good bye Dallas. I love you. You were the best gift I have ever gotten.
