O'Malley's Story: He was surrendered to the SPCA at 8 weeks old on August 6, 1996 and the staff named him Boe. He was the first one that Nicole spotted and fell instantly in love with him. We took him home on on August 10, 1996 and named him O'malley. He was with our family for 14 years. He was hit by a bike or car which dislocated his hip and he had to stay with Aunty Kate until he healed. He loved to be outside, especially at night. He loved when Rick and Jordan lived with us because they would come home in the wee hours of the morning and he would follow them in for a warm snuggle. When we brought Squiggle home in 2000 he was not impressed with this gray fur ball who constantly wanted him to play. He decided that downstairs in Granny's house was much more peaceful. When we moved to Alberta he stayed in Kelowna to keep Granny company. Later on someone shot him with pellets (they were found embedded into his muscle and the vet felt that it was safer to leave them in him rather then risk opening up the muscle and risking infection). When Granny moved to her independent living suite he moved to Alberta with Squiggle and us. He was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 5 or so years ago and has been fighting the good fight for as long as he could. With great heartache we finally had to let him go on June 1, 2010. He will be greatly missed by all of us, including Squiggle! He was such a good boy, kind, gentle and always there. Find Granny/Nan O'Malley and may you both rest in peace until we all meet again at Rainbow Bridge! Sue, Doug and Family xoxo
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
