Emma Susan came into my life April 18th of 2003. I had always wanted a yorkie! A friend of mine delivered some sad news to my co-workers and I on a Friday afternoon. Emma needed a good home. Her previous owners did not want her because they couldn't make any money off of her. She had 1 litter of puppies that did not make it. A co-worker of mine called one of her clients to see if she wanted Emma. This client happened to be on vacation in Hawaii. She agreed to take Emma but would be gone for another week. I offered to watch Emma while she was out of town. I brought Emma home to my families house (without permission) and everyone fell in love with her instantly. There was no way I could give this poor dog back. Emma was so shy that day. She only wanted to be on my lap or in my arms. I couldn't leave her. I called my co-worker to tell her that I wanted Emma and she explained to her friend that an owner was found. It didn't take too long for Emma to warm up to the rest of my family. My Dad came home from work late that night. While he was eating dinner on the couch and I sat in the love seat with Emma on my lap next to him, Emma jumped off of my lap and jumped onto the couch with my Dad to beg for some food! It was so funny! Emma has given us so much love. I believe she was truly thankful for the love and attention she was finally getting. She was so thankful and so sweet. Unfortunately, I moved out of the house soon after I brought her into the Turner family household. I couldn't take her away with me because she was so attached to Molly, the other family dog who passed away this January. I made sure to visit every weekend. She was always so happy to see me. She never wanted me put her down and I rarely did. I am thankful that my parent's gave her such a great home. My last visit with her was a week ago, on May 23rd. The baby shower I was to attend was canceled so I was able to make the visit to my families home. I am so glad that I did. I took a couple last photos of her and I, which I had no idea it would be our last photos together at the time. I knew she was getting old and her heart was enlarged but I did not know she would be leaving us so soon. She is now with her sister Molly and they will be in our hearts forever. It is amazing how much love you have for your furry friends. I wish they lived longer lives!
