Amber, our fawn colored Boxer, was born on October 26, 1995. She was three weeks old when we first decided to adopt her from her breeder, Elizabeth T Hunt –Wells. There were about 6 puppies to choose from, but Amber seemed to want to be adopted. She was alert and came to us each time we put her in with her litter. Amber came home to live with us just before she was 7 weeks old. By the time she was 12 weeks she began her training her in obedience. Amber was so alert and eager to learn, she was the star of her class. We loved her so much that we began to consider getting another pup to keep her company. When Amber was 6 months old we purchased Argyll, a brindle colored Boxer. She thought he was her puppy and began to mother him. Her obedience training continued for over 5 years. Amber received her first ribbon in fall of 1999. Amber completed her CD Title in April of 2000. We were so proud of her, we continued to train Amber and Argyll through the summer of 2000. Amber has been such a loving companion to our family. She was always gentle with people she met and especially loved children. Amber lived with our family through moving three times in two states. In 2002, we adopted a Siamese Kitten named Aisha. Amber loved Aisha as they frequently played with and groomed each other. In 2003, Amber was diagnosed with arthritis. With the help of medications and nutrients, she stayed somewhat active for almost a year. In December of 2003, we saw a rapid deterioration of Amber’s quality of life. After exhausting the use of medications and experimental injections, Amber could no longer walk or move in any fashion that did not cause her extreme pain. On February 9, 2004, Amber departed from us. She will live on in our loving memory of her… Amber we will miss your big brown eyes We will miss your happy wiggles whenever you greeted us or someone new. We will miss your gentle nudges to get caressed. We will miss your excited dance when you wanted to go outdoors to chase squirrels You were always happy no matter what. Your spirit always lifted everyone who came in contact with you. We miss you our little brown baby.
