I remember when we first brought him home. He was only seven inches long. I knew nothing about Iguanas and didn't think he would live more than a year. Rex grew up fast. In a few years he reached 5ft from snout to tail. We didn't even know if he was a male or female until he was three years old, and began doing nasty things with a pillow. That poor pillow was never the same. However he was always very friendly and tame. He loved roaming around the house and finding a spot in the window where the sun was shinning in. When he was about three years old, he escaped from an open window. He was gone for two weeks, and we didn't think we would ever see him again. Surprisingly he was found by a neighbor just two houses away. He was lying in there drive way, in the sun. They couldn't get near him because he kept whipping his tail at them. He finally went up their tree and the fire department and animal control were called to get him down. They shot him with 100cc of tranquilizer just to get him to stop trying to bite so they could bring him down. It didn't even knock him out. After a trip to the vet, to make sure he was okay, he came home. I remember how angry he was to be in a pet carrier. I took him out and he clung to me and didn't want to let go. We were close. I miss him a lot. No one will ever take his place. Goodbye dear friend.
