Jack came into our family in the late winter of 2008. We rescued him from going to the shelter. At the time we were told he was 2 to 3 years old, but our vet said he was about 7-10. Jack was scared but after a week or so he gave in and gave us his love. I remember my wife sleeping with him on the floor so he was not alone. As time went on Jack loved his rides in the car and going for his walks. I still don't know who walked who. We would put his lease on and he would put the end in his mouth as to tell us "lets go". We took Jack to Florida on vacation and he loved running free in the dog park and going for walks by the beach. In July of 2009 Jack was diagnosed with diabetes. We almost lost him then. Jack was a real trooper, he would take his insulin shots twice a day with no problems. I would sit on the living room floor and Jack would come running to my lap and I would give his a big hug and kiss before each shot and after. Jack would give me a kiss each time as to say Daddy it's okay I know you are doing this to help me. Jacks stopped eating and became very sick and we were told by our vet he had liver failure. We brought jack home to say our goodbyes for the last time, then back to the vet to go to sleep. Jack was a very special dog who became part of our family and will be missed. My little buddy will always be with me and one day we will be together again.
