Purdy was a black cross Lab with the nature of an angel. Soft and gentle was her temperament which gave her the nick name Big Bear. As a puppy she would carry everything in her mouth, from clothes pegs, food bowls to toys, and have that proud, "want to please", stance that Labs have. As she grew, and with her typical deep bark, she would keep any would be unsavory elements at bay.
With the arrival of the Dachshunds (about the tenth of her size) she was both tolerant and gentle with them. To be proven later they became best of friends. Her great love in life was her food!! and her eyes grew twice the size when she was given a treat. Her sudden bursts of energy we all knew was because of the athlete inside her! To our happy soul Perdita, you were such a happy and loving pet and you will always be remembered and loved. Nothing can fill the gap that you have left in our lives. Rest in peace poppet.

“I will lend to you for a while,
a Pup,” God said,
for you to love her while she lives
and mourn for her when she's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe two or three
But will you, 'till I call her back,
take care of her for me.

She'll bring her charms to gladden you
and should her stay be brief,
you'll always have her memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true,
and from the folk that crowd's life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love
nor think the labour vain,
nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again.

I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Pup will bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
