I could not believe that you were gone,
Or that I could grieve, so hard, so deep, so long.

But now it's time to let this memorial slip.

Thanks to ILovedMyPet for the means to get through the difficult early stages of grief.

Personal Notes

Hank was a result of Synchronicity — when all things come together at the right time and place. He had recently been incarcerated for getting destructively bored when left alone all day, just when I needed to fill an aching loss from my previous Sheltie-Collie cross, and he met every criteria I had set. When I arrived, Hank was one of two dogs that did not bark their heads off. After a brief Hello and peace-offering to each dog, I returned to Hank (who had stood on rear legs, watching my progress) and with the assistance of sign language said, "Hank come home with me?" Hank yelped once in reply. 3 weeks later, Bureaucracy untangled, I was in the office completing the paperwork. Hank had not seen me arrive, but I called out through the open door "Hank come home!". From the kennels came another yelp. Did my ears get washed on the journey home! I stopped off at a common to let him loose. Hank ran to see other dogs, circled excitedly, then returned. We had bonded!

I'm so sorry for the hole in your heart from the loss of Hank and the emptiness it has created in your life. I know that it's especially hard at this time of year too but remember that your bond remains unbroken and he is still in your heart, as you are in his. Hugs of comfort from Kingsville, Maryland USA.

Thank you so much for your kind words... it means a lot to me. I grew up with a Border Collie and then had one of my own for ten years.. many years ago. They are my favourite breed! They are so highly intelligent and make such beautiful companions.... we have been blessed to have had them in our lives. Hank was such a handsome boy... a real looker! God bless and take care. Tykes mum, Sylvia.
