When we first saw laddie he was a little fat ball of fluff sitting in a cage in a local pet store. We had decided we didn't want a dog but as soon as we saw Laddie we fell in love. After talking to him through the bars for five minutes and being amazed at the amount of personality he seemed to posess we asked the store manager to let us see him out of the cage. As soon as the door was opened he made a bee-line for the food store, and we knew from that day on where his heart lived! We took him home and he settled in straight away. As soon as he knew we had his dinner he decided he was here to stay! He was very easy to train, and surprised everybody with the amount of tricks he learned. Apart from the normal 'teething' troubles he was a brilliantly well behaved dog from the word go. He loved rough and tumble play, cuddles, walks (especially on the beach), and eating. He never believed he was a dog, as far as he was concerned he was a person, thats how we felt too! Over the next five years he built up a fan club of admirers. Everyone who met him said he was one of the handsomest and most well behaved dogs they had ever met, and of course we agreed! We thought we'd have him for years and years to come but in July 2003 we found a couple of swollen lymph glands in his neck and to our total disbelief he was diagnosed with cancer. He began chemotherapy straight away and did amazingly well for the first 6 months. It was only at the beginning of january that he began to get unwell. His greatest joy was taken away from him when he lost his appatite, but he continued to play and enjoy his cuddles. The end came very suddenly, before we went to bed he was playing with us and looking quite perky. Two hours later however he was at the end of the road. We were both with him at the end. As much as saying goodbye to him broke both of our hearts we knew it was best for him. He has left such a big hole in our lives. His brother, Memphis misses him, as does everyone who knew him. In the five and a half years we had him though he filled our hearts with so much joy and love that we will always feel like he is with us. He was a good boy, and we miss him. Rest easy big boy, love Mum and Dad
