Yogi was a very unique yellow lab mix. He was very large, had a block head and had extra dew claws. He was very gentle and even let the kids ride on him like a horse. He would look at me (mom) with tired eyes when he wanted me to go to bed with him. Anytime I was ready for bed, he would always follow me there and hog some of the covers. He would come over to the couch and he would look at me as if to say "Can you move your feet so I can come up?" He was very spoiled. He was my best friend and there will NEVER be another like him. The hole that he has left will remain empty for a very long time. I only hope that some day, I may be able to start filling the whole with memories of him.

“I will lend to you for a while,
a Pup,” God said,
for you to love him while he lives
and mourn for him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe two or three
But will you, 'till I call him back,
take care of him for me.

He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and should his stay be brief,
you'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true,
and from the folk that crowd's life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
nor think the labour vain,
nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again.

I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Pup will bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.

Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight. All is well, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. Condolences from Dublin Ireland on the loss of the beautiful Yogi.
