I was at work when Minter's mom was in labor. Shortly after walking in the door, Minter's Mom (Schnapps)looked up at me and shorly afterwards, Peppermint was born, along with her other brothers and sisters. As she grew, it became appearant that she was "my" dog. Eventually she became protective of me without my coaxing or prompting. I love being outside, and so did Minter. One warm summer day, Minter jumped through the screen door to get outside by me. Once she was next to me, she was satisfied. On the day which was "her time", she laid quietly in the back part of the station wagon. As we neared the vet's office, she suddenly stood up and looked at me just as to say, "I'm not going down without a fight". I carried her into the office, and was accepted caringly by the staff. My request was to do everything they could for her, which they did. About 2 that afternoon, the phone rang, and I knew. Doc Stark told me her cancer was so progressed that, well, I guess the rest is history. My Minter is now with all of my other "babies", running and playing in the field by the Rainbow Bridge. I know she and the others are waiting also...I can't wait to see and be with them again...for all eternity. Rest in peace my little Minter!
