We never planned to have puppies. An unplanned event occured when our Joe (cocker spaniel) mated with our Brandy (poodle.) Brandy had three pups and the first one, a boy, died. The other two were females. Muffy looked like the poodle and Patch looked the cocker spaniel. When Muffy was about two she had a herniated disk and could no longer use her rear legs. We took her to the Hospital in Raleigh, NC and they operated on her. There was nothing they could do to help. The paralysis did not move forward. We could not put her down. We took her home and she healed from the surgery. She was strong and could run around the house although she could not use her rear legs. I had to take care of her and express her bladder. Over the years she lived a good life. The last year she became really sick and was in renal failure. The time had come and I knew we had to say goodbye. All these years I have taken care of her and now I had to make the hardest decision I think I have ever had to make. We went to the Vets and she gave her a sedative and she went to sleep. I sat and held her for a long time. She was like a little baby. It was now time to say goodbye. The Vet took her and laid her on the table and administered the injection. She soon was gone. I broke down completely. How could I tell her goodbye? She lay there in her little blue shirt I had put on her to keep her warm. The Vet bent down and kissed her on the head. I will never forget the kindness The Dr. showed us. My little MUFFY was gone. My heart is breaking. I hope she has no more pain. I hope she is running free and she is Brandy, her mom and Joe, her dad and Patch, her sister. We took her to LYNAIRE KENNELS for cremation. They did a wonderful job with her. She now rests at home. At times I am okay, sometimes I'm not. I thank GOD that I had her in my life. She meant so much to me. I still feel her in my arms. She is forever in my heart. My little girl now has wings. I miss you MUFFY.
