Where do I start? I guess you could say that Nutmeg was the Daughter my mom never had. We treated her as if she was a human baby and I think, at times she really thought she was. We adopted our precious baby girl from a military family stationed at the time in Ohio.  We had been looking for a dog for some time but we didn’t want just any dog we had to have the right one. We were placed in contact with a trainer and we told her all the things we wanted in a dog. Within a few days after our telephone conversation the trainer contacted us and told us that she had found a dog that was in need of a good home but that the placement needed to happen fast. The current family was being relocated to Germany and they needed to find their dog a new home. We arranged a meeting with the trainer and a dog named Nutmeg. And what can I say, other than it was love at first sight. All it took was those big beautiful brown eyes looking at us and we knew this dog would become our family pet! Little did we know that in the weeks, months, and years that followed Nutmeg would become much more than a pet; she would become, a four-legged daughter/sister & best friend to all of us. We had our baby with us for twelve years. But twelve years dose not seem long enough we always need more time to say goodbye to the people/animals that so greatly touch and influence our lives. But I am glad that our little girl is resting now. And I know that if all dogs truly do go to heaven Nutmeg is there!!
