I knew Keisha from the time she was a puppy. She belonged to my sister and her boyfriend at the time. She came to me by chance as she had been turned in to the Humane society as a stray. My sister's then ex boyfriend couldn't keep her and a chance meeting revealed her location. Even the caretaker at the Humane society was touched as my sister sat by her kennel crying. He allowed her to take Keisha without the manditory license.
Keisha was a wonderful friend and companion.
She was not particularly fond of other dogs but loved her family and children.
She was always on guard and protective of my daughter and me. She would stay by Anna's side when she went to sleep at night. On occasion she would try to slip downstairs before Anna was asleep and I would hear Anna call for her. She would look at me sheepishly as I pointed to the stairs. She would then return to her place in Anna'a room till she was sound asleep.
She was the best dog. A wonderful dog. We will all miss her with all our hearts.

Personal Notes

I had a dream about my Keisha. Me and Keisha were running around and playing together the entire time. We were running and I was chasing her with a stick or a ball or something, but she was must faster than me, no more arthitis in her hips, no pain. We were just playing together like we used to when she was younger.

It was a good dream to have, because I feel like she came back so we could play together one more time, and so we could say goodbye.

I remember thinking there was something special about Keisha when she came into my life. Unlike her sister, Keisha was the quiet one, content to be held and cuddled. And those eyes! So gentle, so knowing, so full of love. I swear I could see into her soul and she into mine.
Later, when I married she came to stay with us often when her new "mother" was away. By then, I had my own pooch, but Keisha still held a special place in my heart. And always will.
Rest now, Keisher-weishers! Good girl.
