The first time I saw Oscy he was hiding in the back of the cat box. He was tiny and the first thing I noticed were his huge saucer green eyes. I had been to the cat refuge a few times looking for a black kitten and after a few failed attempts, I received a call to say that some black kittens had been found. So I took Oscar home, he ran straight underneath the kitchen cupboards and wouldn't come out for days, so I put kitten food out for him and sat and talked to him. Little by little he would poke his little head out and then promptly poke it back in again. This went on for few weeks, untill one day I came home and he didn't run back under the cupboard but stuck around for a bit and let me touch him. He then progressed to sleeping on the bed and then in the bed, curled up by my side, always with a part of him touching me. We were then inseparable at night, he was my constant companion and loved cuddles, he was also a very vocal cat and liked to tell me all about his day. He was a sleek black panther with huge green eyes that sparkled. We moved from Spain to the UK and two years later back again and he was always loving and good natured. He never bit or scratched and was always great with children and would be man handled and picked up. He had chronic renal failiure and went downhill very quickly. He lost weight and went from being a cat that loved his food and love, to one that didn't eat and didn't want any affection. He was put on drip a few times and seemed to buck up, but then last night his breathing changed and I took him to the emergency vet, who said his lungs were suffering now. So the decision was made to end his suffering and he died last night at 9.30pm. I was there holding his little head in my hand and whispering that I loved him and he would now be in peace.
