Zoos was a wonderful Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I adopted him from the Humane Society in October of 1997. I saw his photo in the local newspaper and fell in love. I went to meet him and he was outside, playing ball all by himself. I took him for a short walk and filled out paper work and got him the next day. Zoos was my original "devil dog" as he was a chewer. On one Halloween, I bought him a doggy devil costume. He was so proud of it, when I let him outside, he went over and showed the neighbors. Our favorite "game" we played together was called "belly-butt". I would say belly, and touch his belly, then say butt and tap his "stubby tail" and he would growl and "play bite" me! He always stuck close to me, even when I was in the bathroom, he would lay there and wait for me. Zoos was the first puppy I have adopted. I love him and miss him dearly and he will never be forgotten.

Personal Notes

During Zoos' last few hours, I let him outside with my other dogs and he sniffed the wind and then looked at me, as if to say "I know mom. And I am going to be okay." I gave him a cookie, for his last treat. He enjoyed his last car ride from home to Bloomington.

His vet, Dr. Bortell, even teared up, as he has a Pembroke himself. I hugged Zoos and told him, "I love you, son. Have a good trip to heaven." I then turned around and blew him a kiss. That was our last moment in time, together. I will always love Zoos. He is with his brother Billy now. And my dad. And Linda. I know he is in good company and is well once again.

Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight. All is well, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. Condolences from Ireland.
