We bought Chico, a Chow Chow when he was only four weeks old and looked like a little teddy bear. He was more then a dog for the fifteen years he was with us, he was more like our child. He was a faithful and loyal companion, protector, confidant and best friend who gave us unconditional love.
Some things we fondly remember about him are: He traveled all over the U.S. with us until he was no longer able to, at which time he remained home with his 'Mom'. He loved to ride on the passenger seat of the truck with his leg laid on the window ledge like a person. Although he didn't like to get his feet wet, he enjoyed riding on our pontoon boat, laying with his head held over the front, letting the water splash on his face. He loved cats, and there was always a neighbors cat that was willing to lay with him on the porch during the daytime in front of his fan. He'd been laying in front of a fan since he was a baby, at times on his back with his feet in the air, and we always made sure one was available to him at all times, inside and outdoors. As a baby he carried around a small couch pillow and at the end he still enjoyed sleeping with his pillows, one for his head, the other between his front legs while laying in front of his fan. Everything we ate, he did too, well the steak, chicken, pork and fish part of the meals anyways and he was guaranteed a McDonalds burger every time he had to be left for the day. He also liked to chew on ice cubes or popcycles during the hot summer months here in Texas. So many comical and happy memories of him, I could go on forever.
Chico's best friends were his Holland Lop bunny's, Oreo, Scooby and Gizmo. Oreo and Chico became such good friends that Chico allowed Oreo to hang onto his tail and follow him around the house. All three bunny's felt very comfortable around Chico, hanging around him all the time he was in the house.
We were with him, laying on his favorite blanket and pillows in the livingroom where he felt most comfortable, on January 14, 2008, telling him we loved him and petting him, when his vet came to our house and peacefully put him to sleep. He had been sick for some time and he had let us know by the look in his eyes that it was time for him to go to heaven. He has been placed near his home where we can care for his grave.
Chico's loss still brings tears to our eyes. He was very special to us, our heart and soul and is missed so very, very much. He gave us fifteen beautiful years to remember.
Chico, until we meet again, you will remain loved by us and hold a special place in our hearts.
Love from your Mom & Dad
