I went into the pet store "just to see". There was only one Poodle puppy and he came to me. I picked him up and held him in my arms. He fell asleep. I bought him that day. Gerry was the sweetest and gentlest dog there could be. He was content to be held in your arms for hours. He would sleep in my bed in the morning. When I first went away to university, he would cry every time I left to go back to school. When I whispered that I loved him he would stick out his tongue and give a little lick, like he was saying "I love you too." He knew when I was sad or upset and would come to me and try to lick my face and comfort me. Chasing him around the living room was one of our favourite games. Everyone that met him loved him right away. He was well loved and we were lucky to have him in our lives.

Personal Notes

Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight. All is well, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. Condolences from Ireland.
