Otis’s journey began on the streets of New Jersey. Abandoned as a kitten, the local shelter took him in and cared for him for almost six months. One day, I decided to stop by the shelter for a general visit; but the moment I walked through that door, Otis caught my attention. I took one look at those big eyes and adopted him on the spot. Otis wasted no time making himself at home and he quickly warmed my heart with friendship. We moved three times together and spent twelve wonderful years in each others company. He was always there for me and had a remarkable way of making me feel better. I'll never forget those little paws tapping across the kitchen floor in anticipation of breakfast or dinner and his excitement and affection when I came home from work. He was known by others for his social and pleasant demeanor; but Otis truly was a very warm and loving friend. I will forever remember those moments of cuddling and the way that he would look at me with those adoring eyes. Otis was laid to rest due to illnesses caused by cancer. Our last days were happy and I’m glad that we could spend every last minute together. I think Otis and I kept a piece of each others hearts; but they will be whole again when we see each other once more. A Prayer For Otis: Eternal Spirit, we bring you our grief in the loss of Otis.
