I thought it was hard to compose a bio for Grindle and now, less than 9 weeks later I'm doing this again for Buster.
Buster passed away early this morning, January 6th at home in the arms of his "brother", Mike.
Buster was a brown miniature dachshund. He was from a litter of two but his sister, Gracie, died shortly after birth. His father was named Riley and his mother was of course, our beloved Grindle who just passed away in October.
It's a daunting task to describe Buster.
Mr. Personality. He was the Chief of the house and we were all his Indians. He was loving, he was psycho, he was smart, he was a knucklehead, he was brave and he was a coward, Loyal and disloyal. Pokey and inquisitive. He could be an instigator of turmoil and a source of upheaval in our house. Whenever there was a ruckus in the house, Buster more often than not, was usually in the center of it. He had a million different personality traits, mostly good, some bad but all were adored by his family. He was the quirkiest dog ever. He kind of seemed happy being miserable and the look in his eyes portrayed the weight of the world on him (see above picture). He was very entertaining and could be very comical when he wanted. Even Grindle didn't know what to make of Buster's personality at times!
Buster LOVED being in charge of the house and keeping everyone in line. It was his biggest responsibility
He used to love his role as Grindle's backup and whenever trouble was around, he was always behind her at a safe distance!
One of Buster's hobbies was digging, he had many excavation projects going on in his yard over the years. He was a hard working dog.
One of Buster's most endearing qualities was his bark. It wasn't as much a bark as it was a "woo-woo-woo". He had an extensive vocabulary and we were always able to tell what he was barking at by the sound of his voice.
Buster loved everybody, he had so much love to give.
At the age of 4, Buster had cancerous (highly malignant) tumor removed from his belly. Six months later, there wasn't even a scar! He totally beat it...no chemo, no radiation, no meds. It never came back!
Buster really loved kids and he loved his "brothers" Bob and Mike. It really made his life complete when they moved in nine years ago, he loved having the boys to boss around. Not only that but he loved to sleep in bed with Mike. He was so happy in Mike's bed. Buster and Mike were best friends and they were inseparable. Those two had a strong bond and communication skills that was just between the two of them only. It was the story of a boy and his dog.
Like his mother, he really loved food and had a voracious appetite. They made a great team and whenever they were together, Grindle and Buster were a force to be reckoned with.
Buster meant more than we ever could imagine to our household, he was the "thumb" of our family. We will never forget all the joy he brought to us
We still aren't over losing Grindle and now losing Buster is a shock and devastating to all of us. I don't think Buster was over losing Grindle either and seemed a little out of sorts as the only dog in the house. Buster loved Grindle.
Buster is now buried in his little side yard a few feet from Grindle, facing each other. Together in life, they shall forever be together in death also. As much as we mourn Buster, we are happy that he is reunited with Grindle forever.
We will miss him dearly and we won't be able to forget anything about him, even if we were to try to. Rest in Peace BooBoo, we will always love you and Grindle. You were such a good boy. You are so special to us far, beyond what we ever could have realized.
