I first met Hobbes when she was a few months old, she was in my sisters hallway and rolled over the minute she saw me and started flexing her paws and purring. We took her home that night and she was a loyal companion ever since. Originally we had Heidi, Hobbes, Tanya and Pixie but now they are gone, Hobbes being the final one to leave us. She stayed with me through every house move and with the birth of all our children. She never scratched the children even when they were teasing her, she was gentle and loving even near the end when she was in pain. In the end we had to make the difficult decision to have her put to sleep as she was in a great deal of pain, I wished I had stayed with her but it was too painful and I wanted to remember her purring as I left her cuddled into my cardigan. We really have lost one of the most loved members of our family and I as I write this I am reminded of the pain I feel when faced with the prospect of her no longer keeping me awake with her extremely loud purr or her falling of the back of the tv when she fell into a deep sleep. She was a good girl and that was the last thing I told her before we said goodbye.
