Cedar was a great cocker spaniel. He loved us so much. He would follow us around no matter how many times we walked back and forth between rooms. He loved Ashley most of all. He was her best friend. They grew up together and had lots of fun. Ashley taught him to jump through a hula hoop. Ashley and Cedar would play hide and seek. She would hide and call him and he would search for her and be so happy when he found her. He found his container of treats and figured out how to get the top off and get at them. He didn't like taking a bath but he loved being rubbed down and dried off. One time he saw his reflection in the door and thought it was another dog, he went chasing after this "dog" and ended up on the back porch looking for the other "dog". He got out of the yard once and he was lost for a half-hour. We were frantic. Then as we were driving to the police station, there he was right at the corner. We were so happy that he wasn't hurt and told him that was his last adventure! Cedar loved his Kroger brand chewies, he would eat them holding them in his paws. He loved peanut butter sandwiches, plain white bread and pepper steak. We hung a stocking at Christmas time for Cedar and he got lots of treats and toys. He would catch treats in his mouth. He would spend a lot of time looking for the perfect spot to do his business. He loved going for walks and car rides. We took him to Belle Isle and he just loved looking at the deer. Ashley loved to read him stories and he seemed to enjoy that. He loved to shake hands. He had a bad habit of snorting up the bird's feathers. He would roll anything up into a ball to flop on it. He protected Ashley when a german shepherd tried to bite her. He did some naughty things too like eat crayons, skittles, a whole loaf of white bread, Ashley's birthday cake, stealing her food when she wasn't looking and not once did he act guilty. But you couldn't get mad at him with those brown eyes looking at you and that tail wagging a mile a minute. He would jump up on her bed and stare at her until she woke up. When he wanted to be petted, he would come up to her and wait. He knew when we went upstairs that it was bedtime. He didn't like being in the house or outside without us, he would cry until we either came in or went outside to be with him. He loved rolling around in the grass, sometimes rolling so much, he ended up on the sidewalk. Cedar lived to be 17. He lived a long, good life, although we weren't ready for him to leave us. He was loved so much by us and we dearly miss him every single day.
