Dear Athena:

Even though you were taken from us much too soon, we enjoyed every single moment we spent with you. We will never forget how you tore around the backyard at lightning speed; how you used to roll on your back and grunt; how you barked at the cats, trying desperately to get them to play with you; our after-dinner walks: you loved those the most; giving kisses to us, all the neighbors, total strangers and your 'grandparents', and even to Dr. Downey (your vet) and all the girls who worked for him. We are terribly sorry you got so sick. Please know that we, along with the doctors tried everything in our power to help you. And even though you were with us for a short 2 months, we want you to know how much we loved you, our beautiful Brindle Pup. We will never forget you and thank you for all the joy you brought to our lives. We know you are running around, playing in Heaven with your angel wings on. We miss you terribly and we love you Athena.

Personal Notes

August 18th, 2007

Hi Athena:

Happy Birthday!! You're 5 months old today-what a big girl you are!! We came to visit you today at the cemetery-I hope that you knew we were there. It's been only 1 week since you left our lives-sometimes it feels like an eternity. But know that we are holding onto our wonderful memories of you. Be a good girl (as always).

"These tears I've cried, I've cried a 1000 oceans, and if it seems like I'm floating in the darkness well, I can't believe that I would keep you from flying. And I would cry a 1000 more if that's what it takes to sail you home, sail you home. I'm aware what the rules are, but you know that I will run, you you know that I will follow you. So I will cry a 1000 more, if that's what it takes to sail you home. Sail you home..."

Hi "Pupster":
We miss you very much. How have you been? Things have not been the same without you here, but we know that you are running around playing up in heaven; not a day goes by without thinking about you, but we remember all the good times we had together. Cleo, Shasta and Tucker miss you too; you definitely left your pawprints on our hearts. We love you, our beautiful pup.

Hi Athena: Is it snowing up in Heaven? It's snowing here. I can picture you running in the snow, bitting the big flakes as they fall. We still miss you and think of you every day; we know you are looking after the other pets that are living with you in Heaven. You are such a good girl. Continue to wear your angel wings; you certainly earned them here on earth. We love you Athena.

Athena:
Happy Birthday 'Pup-ster'! You're 1 year old today; what a big girl you are! Dad and I got a cake slice with a pink candle and sang happy birthday to you. What did you wish for? I'm sure you wished for a really big Milk-Bone, but you probably have plenty of those in heaven.

We love you Athena!

Love,

Mom & Dad

Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight. All is well, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. Condolences from Ireland.

Hi I was just looking at your memorial for Athena and its lovely.I lost my dog Sam three weeks ago and it broke my heart,He was a big black labrador and he was a character and I had him for 13 years. He got cancer and I had to make the hardest decision ever to put him to sleep.I hope Sam and Athena are playing together with all the other angel dogs.

Hi Athena!
How are things up in Heaven? Your dad and I miss you very much, but we know that we will meet again someday. Cleo, Shasta and Tucker miss you too. I told Guinness (your cousin) all about you and showed him pictures of you. I hope it's ok with you that we got another great dane puppy. Please know that dad and I did not get him to replace you-no other dog could ever do that; you were one of a kind, sweet pup. We love you and miss you Athena.
