Gemini was the distinctive looking (white, with one blue and one green eye) welcoming cat in the staff housing area of Rancho La Puerta spa. He loved to check out the new guests each weekend and help them unpack, hoping that they had saved some yummy airline cheese or crackers. He was a junk food lover.
Guests would tell me delightedly "Oh, your cat slept with me last night!"His favorite sleeping position was on his back with feet in the air and white tummy exposed. At 14 pounds he took up his share of the bed!

Personal Notes

Gemini was a fun companion and a good friend. He showed me the value of exploration(he loved to hide in the construction holes behind my casita) and the delight of the unexpected ( if you lay sideways on the desk long enough, a bird always comes to the window.)

Gemini used to run beside or behind people and tackle them with front paws like he was so excited to be with them.

Mackie and I used to pitch wine corks to him in the living room of his apartment. Gemini would jump SO high and clap his paws together to catch the flying cork. Just like a great outfielder catching a pop fly. That's why I think he used to be a dog.

Gemini used to love to go to parties. Phyllis had a party and he waited expectantly outside for people to come and min1gle with him. He especially enjoyed Pete's cookouts!

From our first meeting I knew he was a special cat.
I stayed at Rancho La Puerta in Susana's(
Gemini's) old room and he believed it still was his room. So of course he climbed on bed and got himself wrapped up in the covers. He loved that!Gemini also loved to climb into bags and roll in them.
His other favorite was a drawer. He'd climb in and wait till I closed it. Then open it and he'd look at me with those amazing eyes.
I loved Gemini kitty and miss him.

I will never forget when Susana and I adopted this little tiny kitten who had somehow walked our way one night. He would stand up on his hind legs and act like he could intimidate us (practicing for wine cork catching, no doubt). Such an alpha male guy he was! (he liked to be on top and drool in ecstasy) I had a guest in my room one week and he jumped thru his favorite window onto her head once! All the Sun Valley girls who knew him are sad to not have the Gem be at the Ranch!

When I would come to visit at the Ranch, Gemini always seemed to recognize me and would delight in some under chin and behind the ears scratching that I could offer. Sitting on my lap he would then take in some petting but only on the upper half of his body. Around bedtime, I could always count on him to sit on my stomach and give me a good paw massage just under the ribs. He was very good at it, too, a wonderful deep hara massage

Gemini was a wonderful treat for my roomate and me when we first came to the staff housing as guests. My own kitty had passed away just a week before and it was so comforting and life affirming to have Gemini visit. He brightened the room and cracked us up when he crawled under the covers! Thank you Gemini for being so promiscuous and visiting us daily.
