Garret: This furry little ferret was a big theif! He stole everything and dragged it off! From canes to shoes, this guy was stealing! He had a bigger purpose; much bigger than stealing or playing tricks. He had a special connection with my sister's and my late Grandmother. He loved her a lot but hen she passed away. It was then he new he needed to finish what he had came here to do.... connect us with our life-long neighborhood friends. He use to go outside and go into a drain pipe and play, take a nap, ect. but one day he did not come back. So we put up posters and looked everywhere but no luck. One day there were three messages from people I did not know. I chose one number and called them back. A girl answered the phone, "Hello?"
"Hi," I said, "I think you called us."
"Right, see I was wondering if you have a pet?"
"Yes, I do," I said in a calm voice.
"Is your pet missing?"
"Yes," my voice was getting higher pitched.
"Is it a ferret?"
"Yes," I screamned into the phone!
So we went and got Garret from her house and she started coming over to see him and then one day she brought some people along to. Eventually we all bacame frineds and enjoyed playing with Garret and hanging out. That is when tradgety striked. One night I was with Garret and he was making weezing noises and crying. I told my parents and they said not to worry and to see how he was in the morning. I stayed with him and things got bad. He wouldn't move or anything and his breething got worse. He was in horribble pain and I got really worried. The next day we went to VetPets and saw a vet. The vet took some x-rays and said that there was some mass ing his chess that was pressing on his heart. He told us that it could possibly be cancer but it might be something he swallowed considering he was a farret and if that was the case they might be able to remove it. Sadly, it was blood from cancer. They ran test after test for 4-5 hourse while I sat out in the waiting room with Garret on a bench nest to a fake tree. Garret's head rested on my shoulder and he was squeeling. I was crying and the tears fell on his head. He looked me in the eyes, lifte dhis head up, and that was when I felt he was saying, "I will die and I need to. I have done my purpose and you have given me a loving home but it is my time to go." I cried and hugged him and that is whe the nurse came and took us back to the room. We were told that eventually the blood from the cancer was going to put so much pressure on his heart that it was eventualy going to burst and that was when I burst into huge tears! They sai that the best ting to do was to put him to sleep. He would live only about another day and horrible pain would be the only option in his last day. There was nothing they could do; it had spread to much. I looked at Garret and I knew I did not want him to suffer so I decided to put him to sleep. As they took him out of the room he looked back at me and I could here him say, "I love you and I will never forget you. I will miss you but you will always remember me by your frineds and I will always be ing your heart. Thank you, I love you, and Goode-bye." That was that. I will never forget him and what he did for us. He is a true miracle! I love you my baby boy!
