We were blessed for over 10 years with the presence of Twiggy. He was our second cat which we adopted to be a companion to our older cat, Woody who survives Twiggy. Twiggy, or "little mister" as I called him was his own boss. Affectionate on his own terms. Very talkative. Very curious. A reliable door greeter whenever we came home. Curious about going outdoors (but, he was an indoor cat). Very flexible - the positions he could sit and sleep in were amazing! He could open doors better than a crook! On April 28, after our daughter's birthday party, Twiggy snuck outside unbeknownst to us. He often hid in his "apartment" (our garage) so we assumed he was there. The next morning, while reading the Sunday paper, our neighbor came over and said that he thought Twiggy was hurt and was next to their house. I ran over and sure enough, there he lay - in obvious pain. Our neighbor made a little gurney for him and my daughter and I took him to the pet hospital where he spent the next two days. He had a broken tail that was removed by about 3 inches from his body and two dislocations in one leg. He had no feeling or use in his lower limbs or bowel and bladder. We were absolutely overwhelmed with grief. Sadly, on Monday, my partner and I made the heart wrenching decision to set his spirit free from his broken body. Thankfully, the vet honored our request to have Twiggy's spirit set free outside where the wind blew and the birds chirped. We love and miss you, Twiggy and hope you are enjoying your freedom in the meadows. We will see you again.
