Toby and I became friends in October 1996. I adopted him from the local humane society and we walked home together, friends in the making. It was the start of a beautiful friendship that would last almost 10 years. Toby was the perfect dog. A protector when needed, a goofy clown often and a peaceful soul always. Toby was always described as an easy going fellow who just didn't stress over anything. He loved his walks and runs in the forest and I wish I could have given him a few more... He was taken from us much too quickly, and our final decision was an absolutely excrutiating one. Toby was unfortunately diagnosed with end stage lymphoma. Strong and proud as he always was, he never showed any signs until it was too late. He passed on as the proud boy he always was. As he went, the looming thunder storm caused a power failure. He then sent us a beautiful rainbow on the way home... Certainly a memorable goodbye and one that I will never forget. Toby will be forever etched in my heart. Thank you for ten beautiful years. I just wish it could have been longer. Goodbye buddy!
