Puss was the funniest cat we've ever had. Our nicknames for him were Puss Puss, Potato Head, and Pumpkin. You see, he was an orange & white tabby with the cutest face ever. My husband called him Curious George because of his nature. It didn't matter what you were doing, Puss had to investigate it. Every time you opened a cupboard, he was in it. Just try and read the paper... He was a stray cat that found his way to my sisters house and she took him in as she does with all strays. She mentioned him to me and I said we already had a cat and we couldn't get another. She eventually talked to my husband and he agreed we could have him. We hadn't even met him yet, but on Christmas Day '97, we met him and fell in love instantly. We're so glad my sister found him and we couldn't have been happier with him as a member of our family.

Puss was not the type of cat that enjoyed sitting on your lap to cuddle, but he would always come and sit beside you on the bed or sofa and demand attention. He really enjoyed having his tummy rubbed and when you stopped, he’d start yelling at you to keep going. If you tried to get up and leave the room, he would grab your hand with his paw. It was a very moving gesture.

His little kisses, love nibbles and incessant talking (mewing) will be greatly missed. The house seems so quiet now. Thankfully we have another cat, Boots, who is a healing cat. He is very sad that his companion is gone, but we are finding great comfort in each other. Boots is a cuddler and loves to be held close which is very therapeutic for my daughter Jordan and I who are having such a hard time dealing with the loss of Puss. Our other daugther Julia was unable to be with us when the time came for Puss to leave us, but thankfully she has her own two little cats Nya and Buddy to help her heal.

To refer to Puss a just a pet would be a grave injustice. He was so much more than that. He was the life of our house. He was the entertainment and the joy. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw him and laugh at his antics. He was a very special friend to everyone who knew him and he will be missed.

I thank God for bringing him into our lives and pray he will be well taken care of and enjoyed by others in his special place in Heaven.
