I REMEMBER YOU

I remember you so clearly

your kisses and your eyes

how you would wait for me each day

and never leave my side

I remember throwing balls for you 

and playing tug a war

chasing you around the house

and you rolling on the floor

I remember those squeeky toys

how you loved to just annoy

what i would give right now

please squeek just one last toy

I remember you loved to swim

how you chased me down the lake

and how you loved to run and play

and wait for winter's flakes

I remember hearing your puppy bark

and your happy little dance

how your eyes would open wide

with just a simple glance

I remember taking you in the car

how you'd love to go for rides

all I'd have to say to you is

feel like going bye-byes

I remember all the walks we'd take

and playing in the park

you were always watching over me

and you'd protect me in the dark

I remember all the grunting noises

you would make when you were playing

how you'd listen to every word I said 

because you knew what I was saying

I remember you growing older

but I was in denial

I swore you'd live forever

because for me you'd go the mile

but time grew short so suddenly

and you were slipping from my life

my heart was aching o so much

like a stabbing of a knife

I remember the last week with you

I hoped you would get better

but when you couldn't walk no more

I knew you'd be gone forever

I remember your last moments

I was with you till the end

my last words to you were said

mommy loves you my best friend

I remember after those words were said

you gave me one last glance

a gentle wet kiss upon my lips

then you went into a trance

I remember you took your final breath

as you drifted off to sleep

the tears had filled my eyes so full

Your time on earth was now complete

I remember you forever

my sweet little puppy tasha

mommy loves you so very much

from now until forever.
