I was very blessed to have Baby in my life; she entered my life when I was going through the pain of loosing my father. Baby was my next-door neighbours kitten along with her sister, I had never seen two white kittens before or even met kittens that were extremely friendly.
Baby and her sister use to come round when my mum was at work and we use to feed them and play with them and even let them sleep round ours. Baby use to come more often until she just never went back. Baby soon made it her home - coming and going as she pleased, fed on demand not that we minded we did everything we could to make her feel happy, loved and wanted. Baby would sleep with my sister and all we could hear at night was her loud purring. I remember we couldn’t sleep due to the loud purring so we shut her in the spare room hoping she would just go to sleep, but she managed to get out and come back into the bedroom to carry on with her purring, that’s how determined she was. We loved being in her company. Baby had 4 beautiful kittens 3 pure white ones and 1 tabby, she was a great mother, she even gave birth in the middle of the sitting room with an audience!
She was a little madam who was treated as a queen, fed on demand, stoked her when she felt like it and she had the pick of many beds to sleep on.
Baby was a very sociable cat and got on with many of the cats near my house and many times I would find a garden full of cats just sitting around. Baby was a sun worshipper she was always laying in the sun and never went in the shade it was very frustrating trying to put sun cream on her ears, I would often tell her to stay out of the sun but of course being strong willed she never listened.
Baby loved her treats of tiger prawns she was purr so loud when she saw the prawns and I would have to hurry to peel the prawns because she wanted to eat them quickly.I am going to miss the excitement of her and her big green eyes light up whenever she saw something nice she wanted to eat.
We were blessed with 3 extra years with her after her brain tumour. Last year we noticed that our big beautiful Baby was losing weight, we took her to the vets. Her stomach lining had got thicker and she had calcification in her tummy and also she her thyroid were overactive and we noticed she was always making little noises like she had a dry mouth. We told her vet, who investigated - she told us they found a cancerous lump under her tongue and it was a very aggressive form of cancer and the chemo might not work; we also tried reiki and homeopathy.
However she deteriorated rapidly in the space of 2 months. Baby could hardly eat and wash herself. Baby was a fighter she never gave up the fight even through the illness. I couldn’t say goodbye. We took her home and spent the night and the next day with her telling her how much we love her and how special she is to us.
Even her last day she was still going around the house and garden but I knew just by looking at her the pain was too much. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, she was my best friend, my companion. I love her so much. We were with her all the way, Baby died peacefully with us with her. Baby looked like an angel when she passed away, it was as if the pain had been lifted and she looked like the cat that I remembered before the cancer took over.
I will never forget you Baby, you will always be special to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything that you have taught me, your love your courage and fight that you never gave up. I miss you so much Baby and I know you are in a better place with no pain. I know I will be with you one day. Goodbye my little Mee-Mee-Moo-Moo. XX
