Maddie was adopted at 8 weeks old from the Humane Society. She weighed only 6 1/2 lbs when she came home. She was getting so big and 3 wks before she died she weighed 39 lbs. But then she got sick and when she died she only weighed about 25 lbs.

She made me proud of myself. I taught her to play ball and actually give it back. Though she would often make ME go get the ball. I had her telling me when she had to go out to potty. I taught her to sit. She was such a smart puppy and so sweet and it is SO unfair that she would not grow up!!!

She died on July 10th, which was my birthday. I imagine that it was like losing a child. When she first came home, she was so small and I would rock her and she would fall asleep. I miss her so much!!! She would make me laugh when we would play ball because when she would go after her ball her head would stop but her butt wouldn't and she spent more time with her butt flipping over her head than having the ball in her mouth. It is still too hard to think about the good times.
Personal Notes

I am sooo sorry that you had to go through this especially on your birthday. It isn't fair that she passed without the chance to grow up and old. Pets are part of the family and will always be missed.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

Just remember what Papa told you, and you will see her again. She's waiting patiently for you at your house with her ball. So this is a goodbye for now, not forever.

I am so sorry for Maddie. I cried for Maddie. I also am sorry that your heart is breaking. As time goes by, the hurt will get easier. This made me think of little Smokey. (1972) He was just 6mos. old when he died. He was a puppy of the wk. at the kokomo shelter. We brought him home in Tracy's red toboggen. He was a very tiny cock-a-poo.He was just so sweet.

Maddie was a sweet puppy. She always looked like she had a smile on her face and she always had a wag on her tail for you. She will be missed by all who loved her.She enjoyed her play mate Sammy and her rides in the car.
