Rusty was the best dog ever! He loved our family and our family loved him. His favorite thing to do was to wrestle with Wallace...my other Yorkie...Wallace would try to run away from Rusty and he would just grab him by his tail with his teeth and pull him back! Rusty loved to lay around. Every morning I would wake up to him laying next to me and he would give me some puppy kisses! He would always growl and nip at Emily when she would pretend to hit me. He was my protector. I wish I would have done a better job at protecting him, like he did for me. It was always the best feeling to come home after a nights work to Rusty excited to see me...I miss that.
He never would sit like a normal dog...he always sat like a little prairie dog! He loved getting his treats...which he would always get because he was always a good boy!
Rusty left us on an early Saturday morning. He was in the front yard with Wallace playing, when he spotted a guy riding by the house on his bike. Rusty felt the need to chase after him; at that very same moment, a van was going by the house and hit him. I heard it, I heard my daughter scream his name...those are sounds that will be with me forever. I loved that dog with all of me and I hate that I let him down.
As I laid on the shoulder of the road crying while saying my goodbye's to him, I kissed his little paw...told him that I was sorry to have let this happen to him, that I loved him and that he was and always will be a my good boy!
