We found Zak at the local county animal shelter. He was 9 months old. We adopted him because Brad had always wanted a basset hound and we wanted our first dog, Mickey, to have company while we were at work. Over the next 9 years, Zak brought us much joy and laughter. True to his breed, he was very stubborn. But he was also loving and gentle. I remember one sunny afternoon when Zak had escaped from the back yard. The gate had been left open. Mickey was still at my husband's side, but Zak had gone exploring. I found him a couple of houses away sniffing dandelions. I'm glad his nose had not taken him too far! Zak is gone, but not forgotten. We will remember Zak wrestling with our other dogs in the back yard, sunbathing on the deck in the summer, snoozing in front of the wood stove in the winter and most of all....sniffing the dandelions. We miss you Zak! Love, Mom (Vahl), Dad (Brad), Kayla and Sierra
